In 1967 the Tour de France organisers decided to revert to the national team format they used from 1930 until 1961. Simpson built his entire year around leading the Great Britain team to what he hoped would be a place on the podium at the very least. This jersey is a copy of the Peugeot-BP branded Great Britain team jersey Tom raced in during that fateful Tour de France. Simpson focussed on stage racing instead of the classics for the first time in 1967, winning Paris-Nice and two stages of the Vuelta a Espana, which in those days was the first Grand Tour of each year.
